Quick Bites: Bibimbap from Koryo

Bibimbap (/ˈbiːbɪmbæp/ BEE-bim-bap, from Korean bibimbap [pi.bim.p͈ap̚], literally "mixed rice"), sometimes romanized as bi bim bap or bi bim bop, is a Korean rice dish. The term “bibim” means mixing various ingredients, while the “bap” noun refers to rice. Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste), soy sauce, or doenjang (a fermented soybean paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The hot dish is stirred together thoroughly just before eating.Wikipedia

Quick Bites: GRK Fresh

Mark and I were at the checkout counter in Carrefour when I felt a grumble in my stomach. It’s almost two hours past lunch time, that’s why. So after grocery shopping, we decided to grab a quick late lunch at Grk Fresh Greek which is just right across.

Ramen Night at Umami

It gets really cold at night in Dubai during winter. It is also during this time when my hot soup cravings are at its peak!

It was a cold weekday night and I'm still at work when I suddenly craved something hot. I initially thought of having wonton noodles, but later on had a huge craving for ramen on my way home. I immediately bugged Mark about my cravings, so he went ahead to Burjuman Centre and found Umami.

Lovely Dinner at Paul in Burjuman Centre

We've already tried the canapés and pastries of Paul in Al Ghurair, as it is always the venue of the blogger meets during Al Ghurair Centre's events, and we fell in love with Paul since then.

So when I got past my first year mark as an expat here in Dubai last August 24, we decided to celebrate it over a lovely dinner at Paul in Burjuman Centre.

It's already past 10pm but diners are still packed at the al fresco dining section of Paul. If it weren't for the hot weather, I wouldn't mind joining the crowd. We decided to dine inside and it turned out to be a good choice too.

Hatam Restaurant in BurJuman

Mark took me out on a dinner date one weekend after we heard an anticipated mass at St. Mary's Church in Oud Metha. And because BurJuman is just a few blocks away from our house, it instantly became the venue of our dinner dates.

There are a number of restaurants and cafes in BurJuman but Hatam Restaurant was the first one that we got to try. I guess it was also a plus that it was the one nearest to the escalator where we came from. Haha! :p
