Our month took off with a good bao and slider fix when we dined at London Slide for dinner, a couple of weekends back.
Located at the foot of Ain Dubai in the recently opened Bluewaters Island, London Slide offers their diners a feel of London with some of Rich Simmons' contemporary urban pop artworks (evident in the walls, seat cushions, and canisters of their appetizers) and beats of 90s hip-hop tracks completing the restaurant's funky vibe.
London Slide focuses on sliders and baos, plus some sides and drinks; with varieties catering to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. In case you fancy something for your sweet tooth, they also serve a couple of ice creams and shakes. We got everything that was recommended by Jay, the staff who attended to us.

I had the Pineapple Lavender Sparkler from the mocktails section. The drink was mildly sweet and very refreshing. It came in a huge goblet, which we was already enough to share, so Mark just opted for some still water.
We had beef and prawn baos, beef and chicken sliders, and cheese and prawns for the sides. Both baos and sliders came in pairs per order.
The Spicy Beef Bao had slow-cooked shredded beef brisket along with kimchi and crispy onions, while the Tiger Prawn Bao had marinated prawns, slaw, and wasabi.

Love the fusion of Asian and Western flavors in their baos. Both baos were distinctively delicious. The beef bao was not as spicy as I thought, just right for my palates (I had to remove the red chili, too); the subtle sweetness of the brisket went well with the tangy kimchi. The prawn bao tasted just like the usual dynamite shrimps with a mild kick from the wasabi.
Both were encapsulated in a soft bao and topped with radish, spring onions, coriander, and red chili; which enhanced the flavors and added texture.

The sliders weren't as aesthetically pleasing as the baos, so I didn't really set any expectations here.
The Southern Smoke had fried chicken fillet, slaw, pickles, smoked cheese, and chipotle aioli. It didn't really appeal to me, but I'm not really fond of chicken burgers, to begin with. Mark said it was okay, though he's had better chicken burgers before.

The Duke was way better, both in terms of its look and taste. It had wagyu beef, brie, mushrooms, thyme, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and Japanese mayo. There's a lot going on in terms of flavors and textures, but they were perfect altogether.

The Torpedo Prawns are simply panko crusted prawns which came with a Sriracha mayo dip. I'm a prawn lover, but this one didn't excite me as much. I mean, it's good, but not something that I'd go back for. Blame it on the Crumbed Camembert! :p

Imagine biting into a crispy crust with soft and creamy cheese core. It was so good as is but the cranberry sauce was a welcome addition. I can eat this all day! Say I can only order one food item from London Slide, it would definitely be the Crumbed Camembert!

Considering how small sliders and baos are, you may initially find London Slide's prices quite a stretch (just like I did) just for a slider or bao, even if each order comes in pairs.
But they're actually filling! And considering the quality and taste, especially of the Spicy Beef Bao, Tiger Prawn Bao, and The Duke Slider—I can still say it's worth the splurge. Just prepare to get a little messy when eating them. :p And oh, make sure not to miss the Crumbed Camembert! ;)
