Asian Street Food at Wok Boyz

I've always been in charge of our meal preps. From planning and grocery shopping, to cooking and packing—I do them all every single day. Yup, even on weekends.

A couple of weekends back, it was a different story, though. I woke up late, feeling all lazy, and having this huge craving for Asian food. Thank heavens for restaurants like Wok Boyz offering home delivery service, I wasn't only spared with a day's worth of meal prep, I also got to enjoy Asian dishes!

Wok Boyz is a Pan Asian street food concept located at Trade Centre Area. They specialize in wok dishes which you can customize to your tummy's desires.

Mark and I are still trying to eat healthy which is why I fell in love with Wok Boyz' customizable woks. Their woks are 100% customizable—from carbs and proteins, to veggies, sauces, and toppings—giving you full control over what goes into your food.

For someone who knows how to cook, choosing what goes into the wok is easy-peasy. But for someone like Mark who's not well-versed with cooking, I think it would be nice if Wok Boyz would include pre-made woks in their menu, like suggested woks with base-veg-sauce combo, which can still be customized depending on what proteins and toppings the customer wishes to have.

Delivery service is quick. Our orders were delivered on time. Food was well-packed and came in still hot.

Mark had the quinoa wok with chicken, beef, tofu, and egg; plus some broccoli and shitake mushrooms in Japanese Sizzle sauce (teriyaki sweet soy sauce), topped with peanuts and spring onions. Mine was a mixture of veg and proteins—mixed vegetables with chicken and prawns—some broccoli and shitake mushrooms in Gangnam Style sauce (mildly spicy and sweet Korean chili paste), topped with spring onions and sesame seeds.

You also have the option for the spice level of the sauce, and if you want it more saucy. Both our woks were on the sweet side, but mine was spicier. Between our woks, Mark's was the yummier one. The mixed veggies were also good, but I think the Gangnam Style sauce would go well with rice or noodles, so at least the spiciness is toned down a bit.

They also offer various Asian bites, soups, and desserts. For the appetizers, we had the Spicy Korean Wings, Street Tofu, and Chicken Siomai.

The Chicken Siomai tasted decent, though admittedly, I've tried yummier versions before. The Street Tofu would have been good with all that chili, garlic bits, and sweet soy sauce; if it weren't a bit soggy. Though this one's forgivable because it's via home delivery. Maybe I'd have to check out and dine at Wok Boyz' branch for this. :)

Neither of us was touching the Spicy Korean Wings, because it looked and smelled really spicy, and we really have low tolerance with spicy food. Mark begged off with this one while I had the courage to try it out. My first bite turned out fine. It tasted a bit too salty-sweet (if you know what I mean). The skin didn't retain its crispiness (most likely because of too much sauce, making it also too messy to eat) but the meat was tender and juicy.

That Korean flavor is also there, but it was surprisingly not that spicy as it looks. I was able to down two wings in an instant. I think there were 5-6 wings in this dish, and I just felt the heat on my throat and stomach when I was on to my 3rd wing.

What I enjoyed the most in our orders were the Fresh Coconut Water (which still came in the coconut shell) and the only dessert in the menu, Mango Sticky Rice. I'm trying to cut down on carbs (thus the mixed veg wok) but the Mango Sticky Rice was just irresistible!

The fresh coconut water also made me miss home! Oh, but it would have been nicer if the top of the shell was cut, so I can scoop out some of that coconut meat. :p

Some might argue that the wok prices are a bit of a stretch, but for me, price is reasonable since you have full control over your food. Plus, the portions are also generous, a single wok can actually be shared by 2-3 people. Mark and I both didn't finish our woks, we still had enough for dinner! :D
