All-You-Can-Eat Dim Sum at Long Yin

I had been having this huge craving for dim sum for weeks! I guess the universe heard my pleas when an invitation from Long Yin popped up on my email.

Located at the Le Meridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, Long Yin has been one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Dubai, I learned. We don't usually frequent this side of Dubai, so it was just only a couple of weekends back when we got to try it at Long Yin.

Long Yin is an upscale Cantonese and Szechwan restaurant. It exudes a contemporary elegant vibe with its classy table setting, cushioned chairs, and dim lights. A soothing Chinese music also plays in the background throughout our lunch.

There's a vast selection of Cantonese and Szechwan fare in their a la carte menu, but we were there to try their all-you-can-eat dim sum offer which they fondly call "Keep 'em coming!".

For 119 AED per person, you can indulge in unlimited dim sum, with choices of soup, noodles, rice, and drinks. I initially didn't expect much from this low-priced offer, since usually, such kinds of hotel-restaurant offers are like way pricier, but this one's surprisingly a great value!

Though some of my dim sum favorites were not on offer—like the Har Gow, Xiao Long Bao, and Pork BBQ Buns—I still enjoyed the dim sum choices. Each of the dim sum came in servings of 3 pieces, and you can ask for another serving once you finish.

From the steamed ones, we had Beef Siomai, Siomai with Chicken and Shrimp, Chicken and Shrimp Dumpling with Chinese Chives, Chicken Buns, and Steamed Bean Curd with Black Beans.

The siomai was good we had a second round of it! Mark liked the beef while I liked the chicken and shrimp. I love how the wrapper was just thin, making way for the generous filling. It tasted just as delicious with either the soy-chili-garlic or sweet-chili sauces.

The Steamed Bean Curd with Black Beans was Mark's choice. Not a fan of this one, but Mark loved the soft bean curd. It's subtle sweetness went well with the lightly salty sauce.

The Chicken and Shrimp Dumplings with Chinese Chives tasted very much like the Chicken and Shrimp Siomai, but with a distinct flavor from the chives. It also came in a thin clear wrapper (like the one used in Har Gow). The Chicken Buns had the same filling with the dumplings, but encapsulated in a bao instead. If I were to choose between the two, I'd go for the buns.

From the fried ones, we got the Crispy Prawns, Prawn on Toast, and Fresh Mushrooms Salt & Pepper Style. I usually enjoy anything with prawns, but with the Crispy Prawns, though the batter was light and crispy, it still overpowered the taste of the prawns. I liked how the wasabi mayo added a nice zing, though.

The Prawn on Toast is a must try! It's toasted bread with a supple prawn filling and topped with roasted sesame seeds. Mark and I loved this one!

The Fresh Mushrooms Salt & Pepper Style was also a good choice, though some of the pieces tend to be too oily.

We skipped the soup and noodles, and had an order of the Shrimp Fried Rice. I love how it included a generous serving of shrimps, though the rice was a bit oily.

Side story: Mark was very keen with having a fish dish from the a la carte menu, but Long Yin is strict when it comes to the offer that you'll get—on a per table basis, you either have their all you can eat dim sum offer or order a la carte.

Good thing the management was generous enough to let Mark have their Sauteed Sliced Hammour with Baby Asparagus (AED 79) from the a la carte menu. We also had some Fresh Fruit Platter (AED 27) and Mango Exotica (AED 31) for dessert.

I personally loved the all-you-can-eat dim sum offer. Dim sum cravings satisfied! For me it's a good deal if you're a dim sum lover like I am! The dim sum is made fresh when you order, so be prepared to wait for a while for your dim sum to be served.

I didn't really mind the waiting time since I was busy enjoying the candied walnuts! I suggest you notify the server in advance (when you're almost done with your initial orders) that you're ready for a next round, to minimize the waiting time. :)
