Iftar at Channels in Media Rotana

Being the social butterfly that I am NOT, I usually just go out when I'm with Mark. :p And considering our crazy schedules, Saturdays are the only days that we get to go out. That's also the same reason why I accept an invite only if it falls on a Saturday.

That being said, I had no choice but to decline all the Iftar preview and actual Iftar invitations, as they're all on weekdays. The only Iftar invite that didn't clash with our schedule was last Saturday, at Channels in Media Rotana.

I was planning to take photos and videos of the untouched Iftar spread, so we decided to go early. I honestly thought that we were already early since it's not yet time for Iftar, but I was surprised to see guests already lined up taking food from the buffet; some even already had their tables filled with plates and plates of food, when we arrived.

Not sure if something has changed, though, I really can't recall because the last Iftar that we had was in 2016 and I think it wasn't like that; but Mark assured me that this has been the usual practice even before.

There was also a mini glitch with our reservation, but I was glad that the manager handled it gracefully. So anyway, when it was time for Iftar, our feast began. It was a full house! The place was packed with tables and tables of families and friends brought together after enduring a day of fasting.

As with every Iftar that I've been to, the Lamb Ouzi still remains the star of the night even at Channels. My top picks, however, were the Mutton Rogan Josh and Mixed Grill from the mains; Hummus and Tabbouleh from the cold mezze; Falafel, Fatayer, Kibbeh, and that fried cheese dumpling and flat bread with cheese from the hot mezze; Jallab and Tamr Hendi from the drinks station; and baklava plus that mango and choco mousse (which tasted very much like sweet potato and I'm not complaining! It's yummy!) for dessert.

Mark and I are non-Muslims but I must admit that we've already come to love this Ramadan tradition. Channels gave us a good first time Iftar experience again after a year! Mark also agreed that the Iftar buffet from Channels was generally delicious!
