Located at Wyndham Hotel in Dubai Marina, being welcomed with a classic American smokehouse vibe with live entertainment and a chill terrace, The Blacksmith is undoubtedly a perfect place to unwind after a busy work week.
Mark and I started the night with some drinks. Do you have a staple bar drink? Mine's Frozen Strawberry Margarita while Mark always gets Jaeger Bomb! I got Frozen Watermelon Margarita for my second glass, while Mark had a couple more rounds of Jaeger Bomb.
Not sure with the rest of the you, maybe it's just a Filipino thing, but there's one thing the we can't do without, even on night outs--food! While the food choice here isn’t vast, each is well crafted to complement their wide selection of booze.
We had wings and sliders for starters, along with a side of mac n cheese. "Everything you need in a wing" as the menu suggests, the Smoked Chilli Rubbed Wings with Ranch Dressing is smokey, sweet, savory, and a littly spicy; and is truly everything you need in a wing! The ranch dressing adds a tangy kick. Mark and I loved this one.

I wasn't expecting anything spectacular from the Sliders, but they turned out to be a good choice. They come in a choice of any combinations of 3 sliders--Shrimp Po boy, Beef Brisket, and Pulled Chicken--which came in croissants instead of the usual slider buns. Being a shrimp lover, it's a no-brainer that I enjoyed the Shrimp Po boy. The beef and chicken were equally delicious, too!

Haven't had a good bowl of mac n cheese for a while until recently when I tried The Blacksmith's Mac and Dream sauce. My photo may not give justice to my claim but this has got to be the yummiest mac n cheese that I had! I've had mac n cheese before which gets oversatiating after a couple of spoonfuls, but this one's different.
It comes in an unassuming, no-frills serving, complete with that crisp top crust which bursts into a cheesy goodness once you dig in. Plus, it's a total steal at only 19 AED. Had it not for my lactose intolerance, I would have ordered another bowl. Aaaaaaand I'm craving now as I type this!

Mains from The Blacksmith include, yes, that's right, smoked meat! Going through the list, I noticed that they have the most reasonably-priced mains! They didn't have beef ribs during night so we settled for BBQ Lamb Short Ribs instead.
Smoked low and slow for almost 10 hours, as the menu suggests, and being smoked meat as supposedly their main selling point, I was surprised at how the lamb wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender. There's no wow factor, but I still loved the smokey, salty, peppery, sweet, and tangy flavors, though, which are evident in every bite. It also comes in a generous serving, so I guess a tender meat would seal the deal!

We also had BBQ Chicken, which appeared dry, though I can't really tell as we just had this one for take away because the lamb was already too much for us. Mark had it for lunch to work the following day and confirmed that it tasted quite the same with the ribs--smokey, salty, peppery, sweet, and tangy.

We were already full and were just enjoying our drinks while being serenaded by an acoustic singer, (choice of songs was good and relaxing, by the way) when the staff offered the menu for dessert. We had the staff's recommendation, The Grand Choco Waffo Experience. It's basically 2 huge waffles layered with a combination of the other 3 desserts in the menu: Pooky's Peach Cobbler, Golden Oreo Banana Pudding, and Flaming Jack Daniels' Pecan Pie.
I loved the play of textures in my mouth from the crispy yet chewy waffles layered with vanilla custart, bananas, oreos, caramelized peaches, and toasted pecans. It looked overly sweet but it surprisingly wasn't. The serving is big enough for sharing and, no, I'm not a fan of waffles but I finished this all off!

Mark and I are not getting any younger, so gone are the days when our night outs would include non-stop partying. Although I, admittedly, miss clubbing from time to time, we now enjoy steady night outs on a laid back ambience with some booze, chilling over some live entertainment, friendly staff and prompt service, and, of course, delicious food. Glad we discovered The Blacksmith Dubai which hit all the right spots!
I heard their duck breast and armadillo eggs are also good and I believe they'll also be adding steaks in their menu, so yay, now we all have the reasons to go back!
