What happens when the best home grown food trucks of the country decide to stick together and build a new type of event especially for foodies? Food Truck JAM! Add Dubai's fantastic cold weather which makes for atmosphere setup by Truckers DXB.
Food Truck JAM is a signature event of Truckers DXB, a food truck movement bringing together homegrown food concepts aiming to rise up amidst big franchises in the UAE.
The festival came about following its highly-popular event Food Truck JAM held at Emirates Golf Club last year. Its huge success made way for an even fun and exciting second season this year and we got to experience it this time around.
Food Truck JAM drives around Dubai and Abu Dhabi with a roster of around 40 food trucks serving gourmet street food. Held at Emirates Gold Club, we got to experience and ultimate outdoor party featuring food trucks, house beverages, live performances, and Truckers Market consisting od 25 local vendors selling quirky handmade crafts and jewelry. And did I mentioned that there's no admission fee? Yup, entry is free!
Around 12-15 food trucks are at every venue. and during our visit at the Food Truck JAM in Emirates Golf club, the participating food trucks were: Calle Tacos, Casa Latina, Sirloin, Moshi, Hot Box, The Shebi, Kono Pizza, Saj 2 Go, Cryspes, Melt, and Sugar Rush among others.

There are also designated counters for water, juices, soft beverages, bubbly, booze, and shisha! |
While it's a free entry, I must admit that food doesn't come cheap at the participating food trucks. Each main dish would cost you a minimum of 35 AED. Some of them I've also just heard for the first time since most of them are start up and home grown businesses.
We got to try out Chicken Popcorn and Fries from The Shebi, Pepperoni Pizza from Konno Pizza; and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and The Great Burger from Sirloin.
Pulled Beef Burger, Paratha Chicken, Paratha Falafel, and Chicken Popcorn from The Shebi.
The Shebi: Chicken Popcorn (30 AED), Skinny Fries (15 AED), Softdrink (AED 10) The chicken popcorn and fries were a hit! I enjoyed dipping it into the mayo and ranch dressing. Yum! |
Konno Pizza: Pepperoni (AED 35) It was good, but there's nothing really special about this one. Price is kind of steep considering the serving size. |
Sirloin: Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (45 AED) The chicken strips with buffalo dressing and caramelized onions were good as is, but I don't think it went well with the mildly sweet butter buns. |
All payments happen at a central counter so there's not much delay in transactions. You pay at a payment counter and get a corresponding coupon for whichever food truck you want to order from, and then present a coupon at the corresponding food trucks. The only waiting that you'll have to do is at the food trucks themselves while your food is being prepared. Most people line up on Sirloin, Moshi, The Shebi, and the desserts.

You may bring your own chairs and mats like what other guests did, but there are hammocks, bean bags, illuminated mini tables, and wooden crates widely available for guests to lounge around on the grass.
While the adults are relaxing over good food and drinks in a laid-back atmosphere, I love how Truckers DXB also catered to the little ones. They built an activity and play area and prepared some goodies for the kids to enjoy. Kids are free to enter the play area but a fee of around 40 AED is needed if they want to play inside the inflatable castles.
It's weekend today and if you haven't planned for anything this Saturday night, you might want to chill out in the Food Truck JAM! They will be at Emirates Golf Club tomorrow from 5pm-11pm. You can also check out their official website at www.truckers.ae to know where the next Food Truck JAM will be.
It's a bit of a stretch when it comes to the price of the food and drinks, but the overall experience is amazing and relaxing. Definitely something that I'd love to experience over and over. It's a perfect definition of how weekends should be! :D
We were guests at Truckers DXB and our meals were complimentary, but as always, this post is sincerely written and all views and opinions are my own.
