Behind Dubai's fast-paced advancements are hardworking individuals, that is definitely no doubt. Comprised mostly of expats, who shoved the idea of having to spend time with their family in their homelands just to provide for their needs; they are mostly preoccupied with work allotting only a single day for rest (consider yourself lucky if you get a two-day rest!).
Eat, work, sleep, repeat—same old routine that I'm sure most of us can relate to. But wouldn't it be nice to get to pamper yourself and indulge into a gastronomic feast after a week's worth of hard work? Who wouldn't want that, yeah? That's what Evenings at Gloria Hotel advocates.
A couple of weekends back, together with three of my blogger friends—Abigail of Cuddles and Crumbs, Carla of My Yellow Bells, and Sheila of AB and Me—we got to experience Evenings at Gloria Hotel, a relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatment coupled with a gastronomic seafood feast!
Dreamworks Spa: A Relaxing and Rejuvenating Spa Experience
A calming scent of jasmine, warm tea and nuts and dates, along with infectious smiles from the staff; welcomed us at Dreamworks Spa.
Different types of body and facial services, massages, and treatments are offered for both men and women. The offers come in packages that will surely leave you pampered. Designated rooms are available for the treatments; couple rooms are also available; all of which provide a relaxing ambience.
After the mini tour around the spa, Carla and I went went ahead with a relaxing and rejuvenating spa experience. We had the pleasure of experiencing Dreamworks Short Vacation (900 AED), which is a 150-minute treatment which includes a full body massage, full body scrub, and a radiance facial!
The journey began with an inhalation of of a minty oil which brought a sense of tranquility. An hour's worth of full body massage including a focus on the scalp and feet happened next, which built the foundation for our deep relaxation. Another hour was allocated for a full body exfoliation using fine argan oils infused with microbeads; leaving our skins fully nourished. Abdominal breathing and high grade aromatherapy also brought into a deeper state of bliss. Completing this heavenly experience is a 30-minute purifying facial which left us with a radiant, youthful glow.
Along with the already relaxing treatment, Dian, my masseuse, ensured that I'm comfortable the whole time. It was the most relaxing 150 minutes of my life, I tell you!
La Terrasse Restaurant: A Gastronomic Seafood Feast
While our bodies and minds were rejuvenated at Dreamworks Spa, our tummies and palates were treated to a gastronomic seafood feast at La Terrasse!
La Terrasse is Gloria Hotel's all day dining restaurant offering theme nights dinner buffets and family brunches. We were there on a Thursday night just in time for the seafood night.
The buffet was straight forward with everything that makes for a great seafood feast. There's a fish market where you can 'shop' for fresh seafood—from fish, squid, and mussels; to oysters, tiger prawns, crabs, and lobsters—and a live cooking station where you can have them cooked according to your preference.
A selection of cheese, breads, salads, and sushi were also available...
...along with an interesting medley of seafood mains including paella, mussels, grilled prawn skewers, and pasta which I made sure to help myself with.
The desserts had me drooling, I must admit, but I had to control myself so I just settled with melons. :p
Saying that I enjoyed the night is an understatement. I'm sure the rest of the girls would also agree with me.
Although Gloria Hotel is a dry hotel (they don't serve up alcoholic drinks), a relaxing spa and scrumptious feast are definitely something to look forward to after a tiring work week!
The spa treatments and offers might be a little steep, but what's exciting is that you can enjoy a 20% discount on a spa treatment at Dreamworks Spa when you book for a theme night at La Terrasse!
