I usually cook on weekends, Fridays specifically, if we got no plans of going out. But last weekend, our flat was scheduled for pest control and we were not allowed to use the kitchen, so I was already prepared to eat out or order food online.
It's as if the universe knew of our struggle and sent Debonairs Pizza to the rescue! :p It's a lucky coincidence that I received a mail and call from Debonairs Pizza that same day. And in no time, two boxes of large piping hot pizzas were delivered right at our doorsteps.
I had to go through the menu a couple of times since choosing what to have was a bit of a struggle as the flavors and offerings were interesting. I finally made up my mind and opted for Tikka Chicken and Something Meaty.
Thank you, Debonairs Pizza, for sending these yummy treats! Make sure to look for the HOT or NOT sticker. If the dot is not red, your pizza is free! |
A distinct aromatic spice was evident with the Tikka Chicken. Generous chicken chunks, mushrooms, red bell peppers, onions, spring onions, and Tikka sauce lay on a not-too-thick-but-not-too-thin soft crust.
I was anticipating a pungent taste because of the aromatic Indian spice of the Tikka sauce, but it actually worked well with the mozzarella and was not overpowering at all. Not the usual pizza flavor especially for those who are not used to Indian spices, but Mark and I loved this one. I just found it a bit too spicy for my liking but other than that, this flavor was good.

Debonairs Pizza originated in South Africa and has found its way in the UAE with three branches in Dubai. Aside from the original base (crust), they also have thin & crispy, and crammed-crust (stuffed crust), plus a variety of subs and sides, and they even have layered pizzas which I have yet to try.
I must admit that I initially wasn't expecting much from Debonairs Pizza as it's an unfamiliar to me. I was actually thinking that it's just one of the usual pizza chains, but every bite into their pizza just proved me wrong. Even Mark who is no pizza fan suddenly had a change of heart.
And while Debonairs Pizza is South Africa's favorite pizza, it has captivated our hearts and tummies too and it is now definitely our new favorite! :D
