Enjoy Authentic Emirati Cuisine for Iftar at Seven Sands

Ramadan Kareem! It's the time of the year again, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, the holy month of Ramadan. A month-long observance of prayer, fasting, charity work, and of course, Iftar and Suhoor feasts.

And speaking of Iftar, a few weekends back, Mark and I got to sample what Seven Sands has to offer this Ramadan. Seven Sands celebrates authentic Emirati cuisine this Ramadan with their Iftar and Suhoor offerings. Intricately designed lanterns, daintly pendant lights, and gold chafing dishes lining the buffet spread radiates what the Emirati people are known for, elegant and luxurious.

The buffet includes salads and Arabic mezze, grilled and curried mains, some vegetable dishes, and delectable desserts. The chicken and veggie salad, grilled chicken, lamb ouzi, and roasted veggies where what I liked.

Iftar staples such as the lamb ouzi, umm ali, kunafa, and date pudding are also present. The lamb ouzi was fork tender and was flavorful. Goes perfectly with the well-seasoned rice. The kunafa was kind of a downer as it was cold, a bit tough, and had a thin layer of cheese, unlike other kunafas that I tried.

The chocolate desserts are my favorites, Mark also approved of them. Those little gold sheets definitely added that luxurious feel.

Mark's Mixed Berry Mojito was refreshing but I thought it had more ice than the actual mojito. What I enjoyed was the Date Frappe—it was creamy and had that distinct dates flavor. Date chunks also added a contrast into the rich and velvety frappe. It actually tasted like ice cream. Yum! And it came in a tall glass! It was so huge I didn't finish even half of it.

Though not that extensive, the dishes surely captured that Emirati vibe. I just thought they're missing the breads section though. Also, apart from the chic interiors, you'll can also get to enjoy the ocean breeze and picturesque ocean view in their terrace dining area. Perfect for sunset watching before Iftar! If you're looking for a place for your nightly Iftar this Ramadan, don't forget to add Seven Sands on your list. :)
