I've always thought of Dubai, being part of a Muslim country and the fact that alcoholic drinks are widely prohibited, as somewhat a monotonous and boring city especially in terms of its night life. But I was totally wrong. When it comes to night life, Dubai has got to be the liveliest night life scene. It definitely has a lot more to offer. I never thought that there are a lot of gastro pubs in Dubai, from the loud and lively pubs to the relaxed and chill ones.
I've mentioned before how I enjoy a lively crowd while sipping a glass of bubbly or cocktail drink, but of course it's also fun to just chill along with a soothing music and delicious food and drinks. And that is what I love about Muze. Located in Souk Al Bahar in Downtown Dubai, Muze combines the fine sounds of Latin, World, and Arabic fusion music in an eclectic and artistic setting.
Mark and I were invited to enjoy the night in a uniquely designed interior inspired by the diverse musical genres which Muze has become synonymous with. I love how the place was chic yet relaxed at the same time.
From the centrally located live stage to the plush, welcoming, and colorful lounges, each area of Muze was evidently crafted to give guests an exclusive view of the live entertainment, which is the focal point of the venue.
They have an extensive bar and high tables seating area, where we were seated, which gave us an equally strategic view of the stage.
Mark and I got to enjoy a Wednesday Soul and Jazz Night full of a relaxing music from the soulful voice of singer/song-writer Rouba and her band. Their music somehow took us on a musical journey down memory lane with some of our favorite tracks arranged in the key of soul and jazz. Such a fun and chill Wednesday night!
Muze also prides itself for serving up some of the most exotic cocktails prepared by the best mixologists in town. I had the Tommy Margarita, a classic margarita with agave extract. It was sweet and citrus-y with just the right amount of acidity which my tummy approved of. It also went well with our food.

Mark got the Cuban Sazerac, a Cuban take of the legendary sazerac with a base of a 7 year old rum. It was too strong for my liking and even Mark had a hard time finishing it off. It's perfect though for fans of strong alcoholic drinks.

The chill music and soulful night was so inviting that I had a second round of drinks. This lovely looking drink tasted even lovelier! The Gin Gin Mule is a concoction of gin and ginger ale, with fresh fruits and some floral licquer. I loved how I didn't taste the alcohol at all. It was light and refreshing with just the right alcoholic kick.

We had quesadillas and salad for appetizer, beef for the mains, and their dessert platter. A choice of mushroom, chicken, and beef was available for the quesadillas, and when I saw Adobo beef in the choices, I knew I had to get it.

The dish didn't quite appeal to me when it was served, but I was totally hooked on my first bite. Wrapped in soft tortilla, the chunks of beef tenderloin got that authentic Filipino Adobo taste with a hint of Mexican flavor. With fresh tomatoes and cheese plus guacamole and sour cream dips, this quesadilla is a must try!

The salad comes with a choice of chicken or shrimp, and I chose the latter. Who says salads are boring? This salad with refried beans, pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, rockets, sour cream, cuacamole, and grilled jumbo shrimps is definitely not. I'm starting to have a thing for yummy salads and this Tostada Salad with Grilled Jumbo Shrimps is one of the yummiest salads that I had!

From the starters to the mains, Muze sure did it very well. The Australian Angus Beef Tenderloin was what we had for our main dish. A slab of juicy and flavorful tender beef cooked medium rare, just the way I like it, definitely makes a good dinner. The grilled zucchini and chunky Serrano potato mash were also a nice complement to the succulent beef. Another recommended dish!

The starter, salad, and main dishes were equally satisfying and delectable, which set our hopes high for the dessert. But I think we expected too much. It was decent but not remarkable. I only enjoyed the Banana Empana, which reminded me of the Filipino Maruya (banana fritter). The Cafe Perton Sponge cake had that mocha flavor which was good but it was too wet and gave a weird feeling in my mouth. The Tres Leches Cake was okay but not that appealing.

Another player in Dubai's night life scene and located just at the heart of the city, Muze sure is a perfect place for when you want to unwind and relax. Highly recommended for those who wants to unwind and chill after a hard day's work.

The Russian staff, who attended to us just had a hard time in conversing in English, but she was very attentive to our needs. Overall experience at Muze was nothing short of amusing. With Rouba's soulful voice and soothing music from the band coupled with delicately concocted drinks and good food, Muze's Soul and Jazz Night is definitely something that I'd love coming back to.
