I'm sure all of you will agree that, at least once in your life, you found it tiresome to be waking up early for work, more so during weekends. But I bet all of you will also agree that you wouldn't mind waking up early to a breakfast like this, yeah?
What more if it's coupled with a unique, lovely, and artsy ambience? It's definitely a breakfast worth waking up early to!
We've already been to a number of gastro-bars in Dubai, and Dusty's immediately won us over even on our first visit. You can read more about it here. Dusty's has definitely set our standards high when it comes to gastro-bars.
So when I got another invite at Dusty's, for breakfast this time, I was more than delighted. We got to enjoy good food and exquisite ambience during an "Art Breakfast" at Dusty's.
Jeffhar Khaldi
His love for contemporary art exudes in the murals at Dusty's, which he, according to himself, crafted for four months. On our first visit, I initially thought the murals were paintings. It was only on our second visit when I got to take a closer look at the lovely work of art, and was more amazed to know that they are collages!
Intricately-crafted huge collages, I must say. Very catchy and vibrant. Even the washrooms weren't spared of Jeffar's funky artistry.
All of which he compares to Dusty's (the restaurant and the owner himself), from where it started to where it is now and what it offers to its customers as a key player in DIFC's budding gastro-bars scene.
We were served with freshly-baked plain croissants, yogurt, granola, and fresh fruits to start off our breakfast. I'm not into coffee, but I must say that Dusty's Hazelnut Cappuccino is an exception.
I knew how Mark loves French Toast, so I wasn't surprised when he ordered one. Dusty's version came in two fluffy round toasts with fruit compote and maple syrup.
The toast is actually good as is. If my palates served me right, it had a hint of nutmeg and cinnamon. It had that finely toasted crust and soft chewy core. Simple as it may seem, this dish was more than amazing. A proof that less is definitely more!
French Toast - AED 25
Being a man with a big appetite, the French Toast just served as Mark's appetizers. Haha! He also got Eggs Benedict to complete his meal.
Laying on an English muffin, which is somewhat similar to the french toast, are blanched spinach, crunchy beef bacon (you may also opt for smoked salmon), perfectly poached eggs with that gooey yolk, and a rich and tangy hollandaise sauce. An orchestra of flavors and textures play in the mouth in every spoonful.
Eggs Benedict - AED 40
I was drawn to Dusty's Breakfast when I saw angus steak on the menu. I'm used to having sausages and bacon for breakfast, but definitely not steaks, so I thought of giving it a try.
I initially thought that the meat was a bit small, but it was surprisingly filling. It was seasoned just right and cooked medium well, making it cooked through yet still maintaining that juiciness, just the way I like it. Served with roasted mushroom and tomatoes, and their signature scrambled eggs and a toast, Dusty's Breakfast sure is a winner!
Dusty's Breakfast - AED 55
If you're one with nature and love dining al fresco, you shouldn't miss the terrace. And while it is amazing at night, it is even more awesome during the day.
Perfect while having breakfast and a warm cup of coffee, especially during favorable weathers in Dubai...
... and an even more perfect venue for an OOTD shot! Hahaha! ;p
Mark's OOTD :p
