Taste Kitchen

I was meaning to try Taste Kitchen especially when it opened early last year because of it's chic yet relaxed vibe. Just a few blocks away from our home and just right in front of Spinney's, I thought this would be a perfect place to replenish after a hard day's work or after some grocery shopping.

Mark and I finally got to try it one Friday night after one of his therapy sessions. The restaurant exudes a relaxed vibe with it's well-lit place with contemporary yet minimalist setup. I was surprised though that, besides Mark and I and a guy having coffee on one nook in the restaurant, the place is empty considering it's a weekend night.

A staff warmly welcomed us and ushered us to our seats. After which, we were handed with the menu. Complimentary bread was served to us which surely whetted our palates for an awesome dinner.

Our orders came and we both enjoyed how everything was well presented, from the drinks, to the mains, even up to the bill. Everything was such an eye-candy. Unfortunately, everything stopped at just being an eye candy.

Our drinks came in cutesy bottles, so cute that they were gone after a few sips. And though they both tasted fresh, both also had too much acidity, that my stomach started to grumble after my first sip.

Grapefruit Juice (AED 19) and Homemade Lemonade (AED 12)

The Chicken Biryani, considering the price, fell short of what an authentic chicken biryani tastes like. I can get a hefty serving of chicken biryani from other restaurants at even half the price.

The BLT (bacon, lettuce, and turkey) Wrap was also a disappointment. The wrap was a bit tough to chew. The shoestring fries were good though.

Ambience is good and service is commendable, but everything else, especially the food, or at least the ones that we had, was overrated. If there's one consolation though, their dishes and drinks were nicely presented. The servings weren't that generous too, which made Mark and I both feel that we didn't get our money's worth.
