The Art of Brunch at Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai

Friday brunches are a common thing here in Dubai for families, both locals and expats alike. I've been in Dubai for a little over year, and I have already observed how they take Friday (or weekend) brunches so passionately. And while almost all hotels here offer brunches, each still has their own way of making their brunch stand out.

But out of the brunches in Dubai that I've been to, I must say that Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai's The Art of Brunch has got to be the best and the most unique!

Mark and I, together with our friend, Cherry, got to indulge into a unique Friday brunch. We were warmly greeted by Mitchel, one of the staff, as she ushered us to our seats, who then gave us glasses of bubbly shortly after.

The warm yet posh ambience with soothing live jazz music filling the air and naturally-lit lobby jump-started our one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Having a unique concept where food meets art, each dish is beautifully presented in sections adorned with framed paintings, books, pens, pencils, brushes, and other arts and crafts. Such a feast for both the eyes and the palates!

Serving up a traditional buffet with a British twist, the extensive spread has of almost all of the fine dishes that you can imagine, from breads and pastries, charcuterie and roasted meats, salads and mezzes.

There's also sushi, dimsum, and grilled meat for the South East Asian palates to enjoy, and a bar for specially-concocted cocktails and alcoholic drinks.

And did I mention about their beautiful dessert spread? Such an eye candy! I also noticed how they serve up a different sweets from what was already at the spread whenever it's time to refill.

And of course, no brunch buffet in Dubai would be complete without the Arabic specialties and desserts.

Mark, being a sushi lover, as many of you may have all known through my posts, first went to the Japanese spread for some sushi fix. While I only got a couple of dimsum and sushi, Mark surely satisfied his cravings with his almost overflowing plate!

While the shrimp and chicken dumplings were good especially with the sweet and spicy dip (which is now my favorite dumpling dip), saying that the sushi was good is definitely an understatement. They are not just pleasing to the eyes but are also worth every bite. It. Was. The. Best!

Mark's Sushi Plate with The Best Tasting Sushi!

And with that said, The Art of Brunch's sushi now rightfully holds Mark's top spot for the best tasting sushi! Sorry, Movenpick Hotel JLT, we'll have to take the crown away from you and give it to your sister hotel. :D

My Dimsum and Sushi Plates

Aside from the dishes available from the buffet spread, The Art of Brunch also has an extensive à la carte selection of fresh seafood and desserts. We opted for the seafood platter as suggested by Mitchel.

The seafood platter has fried calamari, grilled shrimps, and grilled fish, grilled tuna. The calamari were tender and not oily, shrimps were cooked perfectly, and the fish didn't have that fishy taste at all. Each of the elements were good at their own, but the flavors were even enhanced by the chopped parsley with a tartar sauce and a slice of lemon. It was indeed a good choice.

Items change from time to time but the staff are all well knowledgeable so you'll surely enjoy this one. And another good thing is that you can have the à la carte specialties up to your heart's and tummy's desire! You can order as much as you want! :D

The seafood actually was a perfect match with the cosmopolitan cocktails that we had. The cosmo would have been better if there was more alcohol in it though. :p

Also from the à la carte offerings is this Indian dessert, if I am not mistaken, I just totally forgot what it's called. It's some sort of a pudding with semi sweet creamy and milky yellow sauce, with the color brought about by saffron. It also had some spice, if you can see those little black grains in the sauce. The pudding was good especially with the sauce, but we all felt odd eating it maybe because the yellow color wasn't as inviting.

I also got a few dishes from the salads section. The shrimp shots were good. The sweetness from the supple shrimp meat were complimented by the sweet and tangy mango salsa beneath it. The pizza and smoked turkey sandwich were okay, but not something to rave about.

I was also craving for pork and was delighted at the sight of the roasted suckling pig, but it was a total disappointment. The skin was tough to chew and the meat was soggy and bland.

For desserts, I just got some mousse shots, some chocolate cups, and cupcake. Mark, on the other hand, satisfied his sweet tooth with his fancy looking dessert choices. The ones that I got were all okay, especially the ones with chocolates. Mark also thought the same. You really can't go wrong with chocolates!

We then ended our gastronomic feast with some hot cuppa. Cherry had cappuccino while I had tea.

Cappuccino and Black Tea

The Art of Brunch is surely a unique concept that would tickle the fancies of both art and non-art enthusiasts. It is perfect for the family and I love how they also have a dedicated spot for the little ones.

The Art of Brunch's Kids Club

Aside from the extensive buffet for the adults, The Art of Brunch also has the Kids Club which provides children with a supervised play area that includes activities such as face painting, movies, and play station, plus a Power Bites menu complete with cupcakes and ice creams for desserts.

Apart from the buffet spread and offerings that are hands-down the best so far, I must say that the customer service was also at its finest. Shout out to Mitchel, Rashmita, and Han, for the commendable customer service! All of them were attentive to our needs.

I definitely recommend The Art of Brunch. It's one-of-a-kind concept, catering to both young and old folks alike, with good food and superb customer service. Way beyond the normal lunch, it's the Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai Art of Brunch!
