La Serre's Goûter Menu

Mark and I got to commemorate the celebration of National Children's Day through an afternoon snack the French way! Walking along the classy streets of Downtown Dubai, we were left utterly mesmerized just at the sight of La Serre Bisto & Boulangerie’s charming ambience. Coupled with the Goûter Menu, especially crafted to satisfy the little ones' palates, La Serre definitely dazzled the kids in us.

La Serre's al fresco dining area had a section dedicated for the little ones and their parents. Laughter of little kids enjoying the fun activities and story-telling filled the air that afternoon.

La Serre's Goûter Menu included drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and pastas, that are delicately crafted for the little ones' picky palates. Garamel le Caramel and Fresh Grapefruit Juice were what we had for our drinks. Garamel le Caramel, a homemade hot chocolate with roasted peanuts and caramel sauce, was creamy and chocolaty, while the juice definitely shouted out freshness!

The staff handed us this unassuming box which surprised us with yogurt, financiers, and madeleines from the sweet section, and croissant and sandwich from the savoury section of the menu.

Mark, undeniably having a sweet tooth, dug into the sweets first. The Les petit financiers, which came in 3 little cakes with blueberry and raspberry toppings, were light and moist and had that distinct almond-y flavor. The cakes were spongy and lightly sweet and the berries added that tangy kick.

The Madeleines zébré also had the same texture as the financiers, but more dense and a distinct buttery flavor is evident in every bite. Another distinguishing factor is the madeleines' scallop shape. Drizzled with white chocolate, dark chocolate, or caramel, these French sweets are definitely a good welcome addition to my ever growing must-try sweets list! The one with dark chocolate drizzle is my most favorite!

The Petit bol le fruits yaourt (AED 25), a mini jar of yogurt topped with fresh berries, played as our palate-cleanser from the sweetness of the financiers and madeleines. The fresh berries added texture to the creamy yogurt.

Mark and I had an order each of Croissant jambon et fromage. A simple ham and cheese croissant as it may seem, I was totally sold on my first bite. The flaky pastry was not oily at all and had that crisp crust and chewy core. I loved how it tasted just light making way for the savory filling. It had a generous filling of cheese and smoked ham which had that melt-in-the-mouth goodness!

The croissant was surprisingly filling but Mark just got an even bigger appetite and still had room for the Sandwich saumon fumé et crème fraiche. The open-faced sandwich consisted of thin slices of smoked salmon over dill crème fraiche (sour cream with chopped dill) laying on a campaillou bread slice. It also came with a spinach and rocket leaves salad with vinaigrette dressing. I am no fan of smoked fish, so I wasn't as hyped as Mark when I took a bite. I loved the dill sour cream though. And oh, the salad was yummy too!

The Goûter Menu was on a limited-time and La Serre is still planning to implement it into the permanent menu for children but I personally think it will definitely be a hit for the kids and the kids at heart.

Combining the charm of a Parisian street café with the electricity of a Downtown Dubai hotspot, and boasting some of the freshest bread and pastries in the city and a shaded terrace perfect for people-watching, plus a kid-friendly menu, La Serre Boulangerie is the ultimate families’ eatery.
