The lazy bug bit me (and I must say it bit me really hard haha!) that I wasn't able to cook, so Mark and I decided to dine out for dinner one weekend night. :p We were supposed to have dinner at Ravi Restaurant, but it was packed, so we checked out the nearby restaurants in Al Karama.
The colorful post-it notes adorning the walls and pillars, and the fun and playful aura of kimChikin bedazzled our senses, so this is where we had our dinner.
kimChikin is a pay-as-you-order semi-self service type of restaurant. They have a number of Korean food offerings which somehow made it hard for me to choose what to have. But because I was craving for Korean chicken, I settled for the Zingy Wingys and Yangnyum Chicken to go with steamed rice (AED 6.00).
The soy garlic chicken didn't come close to similar Korean chickens that I've tried before. Although the meat was tender, it was bland. The chicken wings were small too. I also found the soy garlic sauce a little too sweet. The chicken skin maintained its crispiness, though.
Yang-Nyam is one of my favorite Korean chicken flavors so I knew I wouldn't go wrong with kimChikin's version. We got the boneless salt and pepper variant. An extra small serving comes in bite-sized chicken popcorn. This one I liked, but it's still not something to rave about. The sauce that came with it was left untouched as it was too spicy for our liking.
Although Mark and I thought that we should have just waited at Ravi Restaurant, I'm still not closing my doors (well make that my palates and tummy :p) for kimChikin. Service and ambience are okay, and I actually saw that they offer Bibimbap when we were done paying for our orders, so I'd definitely give that a try some other time. :)
