Our Romantic Escape in Nour Arjaan came with a complimentary dinner at Murjan Cafe. Breakfast and lunch were also offered to us for complimentary during our stay.
We arrived at the hotel past lunch time and the almost two-hour travel surely made us hungry, so we went ahead to have our late lunch at Murjan Cafe after we got our things settled in our suite.
Lunch
Murjan Cafe is a relaxed and informal yet chic all-day dining restaurant serving international buffets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A la carte option is available as well.
The lunch buffet included soup, salads and mezze, appetizers, mains, breads, and desserts.
Most of the lunch offerings were Middle Eastern dishes. Mark went for the chicken vegetable soup, grilled fish, Beef Kebab, Chicken Chilly, hash browns, and paratha. Mark approved of the soup, fish, and hash browns.
My plate included beef kebab, paratha, vegetable and meat samosa, and grilled chicken with lentils. The grilled chicken and lentils were the stars of my plate.
For desserts, we had some cakes and fresh fruits. The chocolate cake and cream puffs were our favorites!
We were also served with Murjan's Special for our drinks which, if my palates served me right, was a concoction of avocado, mango, and watermelon. It was a perfect refreshment to accompany our sumptuous lunch.
Dinner
The relaxed ambience turned into a romantic venue for an intimate feast come dinner time. Centerpieces which continuously emit colorful lights adorned each table in the restaurant.
There was a different set of salads and mezze, mains, and desserts for dinner. While the lunch dishes were mostly on the curry and soupy side, dinner had more grilled food and dessert offerings.
The shish kebab and grilled meat were even more tastier during our dinner. I enjoyed eating it with my favorite tabbouleh. I also had manakish and samosa which were both appetizing.
Mark's sweet tooth was satisfied by the chocolaty offerings for dessert. He enjoyed everything in his plate especially that chocolate mousse at the top right, that he instructed me to get another one for him when I'm ready for dessert.
I always make sure to deviate from the usual desserts, so I got some Arabic favorites including Umm Ali. I have tried this dessert a couple of times before and I'm still in the process of getting to appreciate this specialty. :)
I'm not sure what it's called, but I surprisingly enjoyed that little shot of dessert with milk, rice, and dried fruits and nuts. The one in the bottom of the picture also satisfied my sweet tooth!
Breakfast
We had a good start with our lunch and was even hyped up during dinner, which made me excited for our breakfast the following day. And I'm glad that Murjan Cafe didn't fail me.
Salads, mezze, and cheese were still available. The mains included chicken sausages, beans, eggs, turkey bacon, hash browns, and french toasts.
The desserts were mostly on the healthy side too. There were fresh fruits, dried fruits, nuts, and yogurt. The selection of breads also had more variety and was such an eye candy!
There were also additional stations for toasts, waffles, and a live cooking station for eggs.
Of course there's also a section for breakfast cereals which the kids and kids at heart can enjoy. :) Juice and coffee are also served.
My breakfast plate was wiped out in no time. The Gallery in Burjuman Arjaan also served Chicken Sausage and Turkey Bacon, which I both loved, and Murjan Cafe's version didn't disappoint. Another favorite was the pastry with pineapple jam which I enjoyed eating while sipping the hot coffee. Yum!
I also indulged in some omelette with my choice of veggies and generous cheese filling, and completed my breakfast with some watermelon, honey dew, and lychees! *burp* :D
Overall dining experience was nothing short of amusing. Aside from the food, I must give it up for Murjan Cafe's excellent customer service which was consistent all throughout our stay.
Mu'ad, the restaurant manager, always made sure that we are having a good time. Husnain, Murjan's chef, was hands-on in making sure that the dishes in the buffet are replenished. He also checks on us from time to time asking about how we find the dishes. And Bakhtiyor, the staff who attended to us during our dinner and breakfast, was very enthusiastic. I wasn't surprised since his name apparently mean happy. Happiness really exudes from him. :D
