After having some food and refreshments at the media preview of the Halloween at Wild Wadi, we went to the changing rooms and left our things at the lockers. And then our Wild Wadi adventure began! :D
Wild Wadi offers 30 rides and attractions for all the family. It is themed around the tale of Juha, a known character from the Arabian folklore, and his adventure in an island with rivers and rapids.
JUMEIRAH SCEIRAH
This was what Mark chose to ride first. But before we got to the two tandem slides, we first had to climb the 32-meter tower!
Climbing up the tower already made my knees wobbly, so I wasn't really up to try the ride. But my fear of heights were somehow eased when I saw this spectacular view of the entire waterpark...
...and got a closer view of the majestic Burj Al Arab.
Two capsules await two guests to ride at the same time at the top of the tower. Mark was ordered to cross his arms and legs as the doors of the capsules close. He was still all smiles but I can sense as the feeling of anxiety and anticipation rush through him as the countdown begins.
Before he knew it, the floor beneath him opened and he slid down the 120-meter slide at an astonishing speed of 80 km/h! I couldn't help but laugh as I heard his manly scream! Hahaha! :p
We were pressed for time as Mark and I had a slight boo-boo when we lost each other. I went down to get some floaters for our next ride, as what the staff advised, so Mark didn't catch me when he got back to where he left me. He left his phone on the locker so there's no way I can contact him. Bummer! I came back to our meeting place to find him still not there, until we finally saw each other when I decided to go down again. He apparently took the Jumeirah Sceirah ride again thinking that I might be at the end of the ride waiting for him. We spent a huge chunk of our stay looking for each other throughout the waterpark, so we only got enjoy a few of Wild Wadi's rides.
FLOOD RIVER
Circling the Flowriders, Flood River features unannounced surges of 100,000 litres of water, creating waves over 1 metre high and sudden river rapids.
All ages are permitted to enjoy the Flood River however children should have parent supervision at all times. Complimentary lifejackets are available for all guests who are not confident swimmers.
WIPEOUT & RIPTIDE
The Wipeout and Riptide FlowRiders offer the ultimate surfing experience. Devised by the maverick American lawyer/surf fanatic Thomas Lochtefeld, the Wipeout works by shooting out more than seven tonnes of water per second in a thin sheet across a molded foam structure, producing a realistic wave effect ideal for body-boarding and knee-boarding (or surfing during private parties). One of the only four such rides in the world, the Wipeout FlowRider sure is a blast.
Just looking at the tides already got me scared, so I begged of when Mark wanted us to try this out. Good thing he didn't insist, maybe because I bartered to take a video of him when he rides the tides. Haha! Easy as it may seem, one will surely need strong arms and body and lots of balance to battle the current and last long on the ride. Even Mark who was fit, buff, and all, had a hard time with this ride.
MASTER BLASTERS
The last ride that we had before we called it a night, Master Blasters sure is my most favorite. Well I only had to choose between this and the Flood River, though. Haha! :p
A series of high-powered water jets took us on an aquatic roller coaster ride as we rode in water tubes. The gravity-defying rides of Master Blasters rocketed us up to 15 meters above ground level. You can choose to start off either in White Water Wadi or Flood River Flyer.
The other Master Blasters are Flying Falls, Falaj Fury, Jebel Lookout, Wadi Leap, Hos'N Hurler, Falcon Fury, Thunder Rapids, Rushing Rapids, Wadi Twister, Wadi Basher, and the scariest part for me, the Tunnel of Doom.
Apart from the height of the slides, the sudden bumps, surges, and turns were what made me scream almost all throughout the ride. I was so scared but Mark just kept on laughing. :p
Other attractions include Burj Surj and Trantrum Alley, which we have yet to try. Will make sure to try them on our next visit. :D
Most of the extreme rides have height restriction. Guests must be above 1.1 metres. Children below 1.1 metres can still have fun at Breaker's Bay (Wave Pool), Juha's Journey (Lazy River), Juha's Dhow & Lagoon (Family interactive playstructure) and Flood River (Action River).
We finished the Master Blasters just in time for the park closing at 7pm, and then headed on to the Forbidden Basement for some scares! :D
Going from one ride to another was tiring, but the rides are definitely worth all the long walks. We all had a fun experience. We all went home with tired feet but with happy hearts and fun memories!
