Lovely Dinner at Paul in Burjuman Centre

We've already tried the canapés and pastries of Paul in Al Ghurair, as it is always the venue of the blogger meets during Al Ghurair Centre's events, and we fell in love with Paul since then.

So when I got past my first year mark as an expat here in Dubai last August 24, we decided to celebrate it over a lovely dinner at Paul in Burjuman Centre.

It's already past 10pm but diners are still packed at the al fresco dining section of Paul. If it weren't for the hot weather, I wouldn't mind joining the crowd. We decided to dine inside and it turned out to be a good choice too.
Paul's homey interiors are not only elegant but also exudes that romantic vibe, perfect for an intimate celebration.

We were courteously greeted by the staff who also ushered us to our seats. After we placed our orders, we were served with our drinks plus some complimentary bread. I'm used to having either butter or olive oil and balsamic vinegar with breads so the olive paste was something new to me. I eat olives, though I'm not a fan, but this olive paste was different. I love how the taste was not pungent and was a perfect match for the bread. It also added texture to the bread's soft core and chewy crust.

Mark got Paul Mix (fresh strawberry, mango, and kiwi) for his drinks while I had Red Berries and Mint Juice (strawberries, blueberries, red grapes, banana, and fresh apple juice). Mark's choice was definitely prettier and colorful but both drinks were equally delicious and refreshing.

Mark and I are the types who have our desserts served along with our orders, and because Paul already have pre-made desserts in their display, our desserts came next after our drinks were served. We had Gâteau au fromage blanc et fraise (strawberry cheesecake) and Baba Choco Guianduja (chocolate cupcake).

The strawberry cheese cake was an eye candy, but taste-wise, it's not something that I'd crave for. The base was too crumbly and the cheesecake itself had that gelatin-like consistency. I loved how it wasn't too sweet and how the strawberry jam stood out, but I still prefer rich and velvety cheesecakes.

The chocolate cupcake, on the other hand, looked so unassuming but was surprisingly a hit. The frosting wasn't too sweet and had the right chocolaty taste. Digging into the core, a dark chocolate syrup oozes out which makes the cake base moist. The chocolate-coated ball crisps also added a contrast in texture. Just make sure to finish it in time as the cupcake becomes soggy when the syrup sips for too long.

We just decided to have a light meal so we opted for sandwiches, but were caught off guard with the huge servings.

I drooled when Tartine au boef was served. The sautéed beef tenderloin strips were seasoned well and jived perfectly with the sweetness and tang from the barbecue sauce and mayonnaise. The green capsicums, onions, and fresh mushrooms not just added a play of texture but also a medley of different flavors. And oh that melted cheddar cheese, aaah! This is definitely a must-try! The dish also came with mixed green salad with vinaigrette.

Club Poulet, though didn't come close to the Tartine au boef, still wasn't a bad choice. I loved how generous the chunks of chicken fillet were and how the mayonnaise was just light and wasn't overpowering. The fresh avocados and tomatoes gave a contrast in flavor and texture as well. It also came with mixed greens and vinaigrette plus some steak fries which were so good! :D

The servings were generous that we had the left overs for take away. :) Mark and I enjoyed the night. Food was good and service was commendable. The staff which attended to us was very patient and enthusiastic and suggesting their best-sellers.
