Coffee shops, having sprouted like mushrooms over the years, aren't really something that tickle my fancy. So when I got an invite to do a review of Icons Coffee Couture in Souk Al Bahar, I must admit that I wasn't that ecstatic. I didn't even check their site out to see what they have to offer, as what I usually do when invites come my way. Nothing.
Add the fact that our fun and enjoyment at the Al Ghurair Dub Fest 2015 had to be cut short as we needed to go from Deira to Downtown Dubai.
But although there wasn't a single diner when we came, the minute I set foot on Icons, I already felt that it wasn't just an ordinary coffee shop.
With its black and white interiors, photo wall of fashion icons, and a zebra print accent wall, I knew that Icons has something more to offer.
Even the mugs, tumblers, and trinkets are crafted according to the latest fashion trends.
And all of that is because Icons Coffee Couture is a Luxury Fashion & Lifestyle Coffee Shop Concept, established by a team of fashion connoisseurs and highly-driven professionals. It is run by the co-founder and managing director, a former German fashion model, Elena Weber.
We came to the coffee shop a little too late and weren't able to catch Elena, who was supposed to personally meet us and host us around.
We were, however, greeted and attended to by Justin who was the only staff in the cafe that time.
We were given the liberty to choose from their menu. It was kind of disappointing, though, because we were limited to what was left in their food stall.
For the drinks, we got the specialties which were suggested by Justin. Mark opted for the coffee-based drink and had the Snow White Mocha while I got the Snow White with Caramel.
The drinks tasted just like what the famous coffee shop brand offers, it's just that Icons' is a lot less sweet, which of course I liked.
We also got an order each of the Tomato Mozzarella Focaccia and Sesame Chicken Power Focaccia. Mark and I agreed and liked the first one more than the latter.

Both sandwiches used focaccia which had that chewy crust and soft core. I initially thought that the one with chicken would be superior over the other, but I guess sometimes, less is more. The Tomato Mozzarella, although having just that as the ingredients, plus a few lettuce and herbs, was a lot tastier than the Sesame Chicken Power Focaccia. I found the chicken strips a little bland and they were a bit hard to chew.

We also opted for some cakes. :D We had a slice each of their Strawberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Fudge.
There's a combination of sweet, tangy, and salty in every bite of the cheesecake. The crust gave that contrast in texture to the smooth and creamy cake.
The Chocolate Fudge was a hit! It has layers of melt-in-your-mouth moist chocolate cake and velvety chocolate fudge. I also loved that it wasn't too sweet.
I must admit that I wasn't really impressed as first with what Icons has to offer, mainly because they almost have the same product line as what usual coffee shops would serve. But what sets them apart from the rest, even from the most famous coffee shop franchise, is how they're products are made.
The Icons Fashion Food Assortment is inspired by the diet and trends of Hollywood stars, sports people, and models, to empower every customer to the fullest and keeps what it promises ‘No sugar added, cause you are sweet enough! True joy, with no regrets!'. Yup, their products are 100% sugar free as they use Stevia as their sweetener. They also 100% organic ingredients and fair-trade gourmet coffee range and German Bio Seal certified coffee and tea. Now that's more like it!
Thank you so much, Icons Coffee Couture, for having us! :)
They say you are what you eat. And most of us tend to eat healthy, sometimes having to compromise the enjoyment in eating. But wouldn't it be a lot more fun if you indulge without the guilt? That's what Icons Coffee Couture promises. True joy with no regrets, indeed!

We were guests at Icons Coffee Couture and our meal was complimentary, but as always, this post is sincerely written and all views and opinions are my own.
I heart the black and white combo both in public and private spaces. Less is indeed more, that tomato mozzarella foccacia looks delish! When ordering a cake at a coffee shop/cafe, I always go for the chocolate one. Nice to know their choco fudge was okay, too. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, black and white never go out of style. Looks so classy and chic. Indeed, the tomato mozzarella focaccia and chocolate fudge were yummy! :)
