I don't want to sound like an all-knowing and self-righteous girl, but the teachings in today's readings (TV mass) are definitely worth reflecting on so I decided to share.
It's basically about forgiveness--asking for forgiveness to those we've wronged and forgiving those who have wronged us.
Quite easy to say but definitely the hardest thing to do especially if the people involved are the ones who are close to you, the ones whom you love.
I've always thought that it's just plain and simple...forgive and forget! But am I really doing it right? Are we really doing it right?
Yeah, what most of us often do is just forgive and forget---forgive the sin and forget the sinner. Most of the time when someone does something wrong to us, we forgive them, yes. We even pray for them, yes. But we also eliminate them in our lives. Most of the time, we are so quick to decide to just cut the ties of the ropes and burn the bridges that we've securely built and worked hard for, even for years.
But is that really the right thing to do? Is that what God taught us to do? No, that's definitely not what God wants us to do. God wants us to forgive and forget---FORGIVE THE SINNER AND FORGET THE SIN. He wants us to forgive the sinner, just as He forgives everyone of us; forget the sin, just as He deletes all our records of wrongs; but never ever forget the sinner, just as He continuously accepts us back and loves us no matter what.
Have a blessed and meaningful Good Friday everyone! God bless us all!
