I celebrated my 28th birthday last Friday, January 3. And because birthdays won't be complete without birthday cakes, I made my own birthday cake! Yay! :D
We usually buy cakes from bakeshops during special occasions, but ever since I started making cakes and cupcakes, the cakes that are present on our feasts are of course those which I personally made. Will do a separate post for that. :)
I was very excited to make my birthday cake using the Hello Kitty pan which was Mark's gift. :) I was also torn between chocolate cake and red velvet cake, and finally decided to make the latter, thank's to Gia's suggestion.
Filled the cake with dark chocolate ganache, just like how I do my red velvet cupcakes, crumb-coated the cake with cream cheese frosting and then covered it with fondant.
Since I also love pink, I made a pink ribbon out of fondant. I then did Hello Kitty's eyes, nose, and whiskers using royal icing.
Daddy was actually the one who ordered the cake, thus the dedication hehe..I made it out of a small greeting card, stuck into a lollipop stick, and then wrote the dedication using royal icing with sanding sugar. :)
Added the dedication and a pink candle on to the cake and tadaaaaa! Presenting...my Hello Kitty cake! :D
I was so happy to have made my own birthday cake. It was my first time to make my own birthday cake and I really enjoyed it. I was so delighted that I just can't stop doing a selfie with my cake hahaha! :p
I was all giddy like a little girl! I sooooo love my cake! I was all smiles and my eyes were sparkling non-stop! Weeeeeeeee! :D
I wouldn't have wanted to eat the cake but I just have to share it with the family and so I did the most dreadful and heart-breaking part, the cutting of the cake! Haha! :p
Aside from the beautiful cake, I was also very happy that everybody loved and enjoyed eating it! Yay! Thank you once again, daddy dear, for ordering! Hahaha! :-*
