We came to Subic without having any hotel reservations. I know this entails a lot of risks, but according to Mark being care-free and just going with the flow sometimes adds up excitement and fun and most of the time results to an extraordinary adventure. And well I guess he was right! :)
I already expected Camayan Beach Resort to be fully booked but we still gave it a try and got no luck. Good thing Segara Villas and Suites saved the day! Segara Villas and Suites became our home during our Subic trip last January 5-8.
We came across this serene boutique along the Waterfront Road as we were looking for a place to dine. The staff suggested that we checkout the place and upon checking the rooms, Mark and I agreed to book at Segara.
There are two kinds of accommodations available at Segara: the Villas and the Suites. Segara Villas have luxurious stand-alone villas perfect for families or group of friends.
Segara Suites have superior and double deluxe suites which all have stylish and spacious rooms ideal for couples, business travelers, or solo visitor.
Mark and I loved the hotel's modern Asian design. Very evident in its interiors are the asymmetrical walls and door jambs, and the Balinese accents combined with contemporary yet homey touches.
Mark and I chose the superior suite, a 32-sqm room with private patio.
This California king size bed is what welcomed us as we entered the room. The sheets, 350-thread count sheets as what Segara boasts, was very comfy! And the pillows, oh they were so soft and fluffy! I just love digging my head into them. :D
On each side of the bed are desks with lamps, one has a memo pad with pencil and the other one has an IDD phone.
Right beside the bed are two comfy couches and center table which is a perfect spot for watching tv or reading books.
On the other side of the bed is a walkway which leads to the closet, patio, and bathroom.
The closet's sliding doors have full-length mirror. Light automatically turns on when doors are opened. Across the closet is another sliding door which leads to the private patio.
Inside the closet are pillows, robes, hangers, drawer, basket for dirty clothes, slippers, and a safety deposit box.
Next to the closet is a clean and spacious restroom with basic toiletries, sets of towels, and hair dryer.
The restroom also has a private bath with hot and cold shower. The hot and cold shower system was not working well though because the water easily becomes too hot even when the shower lever is set in the middle, more so when turned to 'hot'.
Across the bed is a cabinet which houses the complimentary coffee, cups, glasses, electric kettle, and ice bucket; 37-inch flat screen TV with DVD player; a booklet with Segara Suites policies; and travel magazines, directories, and Holy Bibles.
Our room also has this soft carpet, which became Mark's favorite spot in the room! Haha! :p
A mini-refrigerator, with a couple cans of beer (Php 55 each) and sodas (Php 50 each), and complimentary bottled water, is also available.
A 24-hr wireless broadband internet and a ration of daily broadsheets are also available.
Our room also comes with daily breakfasts, a choice of Filipino-style or American-style breakfasts.

A few things to take note:
* Everything that you need to know (like the amenities' operating hours, turn down services, laundry services, etc.) are in the Segara Suites booklet so be sure to take time to go through it.
* Check-in time is 14:00 and check-out time is 12:00.
* The Superior Suite rate is for double occupancy only. Maximum of 2 children 7 years old and below are free of charge (sharing beds with adults).
* Charge for extra person is Php 1,200.00 with extra bed and breakfast, Php 950.00 without bed and breakfast. Maximum of 3 adults is allowed in Superior Suites.
* Corkage fees apply for food and drinks brought to the hotel. Food and drinks are available at Asian Spices, Segara's in-house restaurant.
Except for the dysfunctional hot and cold shower system, everything in Segara was conducive for rest and relaxation, even their customer service was superb. Our stay in Segara was made more comfortable and relaxing by their commendable staff. Everyone was just so accommodating. They never fail to greet us with smiles every time we cross paths. Mark and I also loved the distinct scent in the hotel's premises. I don't know what aromatherapy or Balinese scent that was but it was just so soothing and relaxing.
Segara also boasts of its amenities like the bar, swimming pool, restaurant, and spa. I'll be sharing with you the details of our dining experience and the hotel's amenities in my next posts. :)
