Went to the Gateway Mall for dinner a few weeks back (oh yes, this is just one of the many backlog posts that I got haha!). Mark was already watching his food intake since he's preparing for a bodybuilding competition and during times like this, he always has the final word on where we should dine.
Since there aren't a lot of healthy food choices at the Gateway Mall, he chose to dine at Pancake House for dinner. The place was already packed when we got there but there were vacant tables outside (along the walkway). I was insisting Mark to just have our names listed in the waiting list and wait for the tables inside to be vacated, but since he was already hungry he insisted to just dine outside the restaurant. I didn't want to argue so I obliged.
Mark loved his orders at Pancake House in Robinsons Magnolia so he got the same orders at the Gateway branch. Unlike other restaurants wherein their dishes sometimes taste differently at every branch, Pancake House managed to maintain its dishes' tastes across their branches, well at least for their Robinsons Magnolia and Gateway branches.
The chicken was also tender and juicy and the lemon juice balanced out all the spices and pungent flavors. The cream dory fillet also didn't have that fishy taste, and had that distinct taste which came from the toasted garlic and spring onions.
I was thinking of getting their Warm Bacon Potato Salad again but my tummy wasn't up for some healthy food that time. I wanted to have some pasta but since their Chicken Fillet with Cheesy Spinach Pasto Linguine was a downer, I stayed safe and chose the Hamburger Steak Special Set.
The set comes with hamburger steak with gravy, spaghetti with meat sauce, mixed vegetables, and a glass of iced tea. The hamburger steak was very tender and juices ooze out in every slice. It had the right amount of saltiness and had that distinct peppery taste, which was made even more delectable with the equally delicious gravy. The mixed veggies were okay although I wish there was more serving haha! I'm glad that I chose this dish because their classic spaghetti with meat sauce was a hit, as always! Nothing really beats the classics!
Service was also commendable because the waiting staff who took charge of our orders was very attentive, checked on us from time to time, and made sure that we got everything right. She even offered us to transfer when one of the tables inside got vacated (maybe she saw how bratty I was when I insisted that we dine inside haha!).
If there's one thing that makes the Gateway branch standout, I must say it's their food presentation. Their dishes were presented way better and looked a lot appetizing than that of the Robinsons Magnolia branch. :p

I've been wanting to try that burger set and spicy chicken. I haven't been to Pancake house kasi lately e. :( yah their spag is so yummy but the specialty pasta choices were blah!
ReplyDeleteThey're both good! And yup, their specialty pastas are such downers. I got to try their seafood pasta and didn't like it too. I'd still go for their spaghetti. :)
