After our lunch at Pan de Amerikana in Katipunan, we went to Manila to book for a hotel. We didn't have any reservations and so we just searched over the net for hotels while we were having lunch.
We were supposed to book a hotel at BGC in Taguig but since a Manila Bay dinner cruise was also included in our itinerary, we thought that it would be practical to just stay in Manila since there are a lot of hotels there anyway.
After surfing through different hotel websites, Mark and I finally agreed to stay at the Lotus Garden Hotel in Manila.
We were greeted by the hotel guard as we alighted the cab and he ushered us to the reception. The receptionist that accommodated us was all-smiles as she answered all our queries and handed us the leaflet with room rates.
All Lotus Garden Hotel rooms have buffet breakfast (room rates are higher) but clients may also choose to do away with the breakfast and pay for only the room rate. Except for the Standard rooms with double size bed only, the rest of the rooms have either a queen/double sized-bed or twin-sized beds.
We didn't have any reservations and most of the rooms were already occupied but we were still lucky enough to have at least a Superior room. Unfortunately there were no Superior Twin rooms available so we settled for the Superior Double room. The bed is comfortable and big enough for two people. The linens are also clean and the pillows are so soft which gave us a sound sleep. The smell of detergent on the linens was very strong though.
On each side of the bed are desks, one has the TV's remote control and a list of TV channels and the other has an IDD/NDD Telephone system with voicemail, a desk lamp, and a memo pad/service request pad.
Right beside the bedside desk is the dresser with the hotel's restaurant's menu and a list of drinks...
complimentary bottled water, coffee, tea, and an electric kettle...
and a Bible inside the drawer.
Across the dresser is a closet which is spacious but the sliding door is kind of dismantled and gave me a hard time opening and closing it.
Inside the closet is a laundry bag and 2 pairs of super-sized rubber slippers. :p The slippers cost Php 200/pair which I only knew of when a piece of paper fell as I opened the plastic wrap.
The room is also equipped with a cable TV with over 72 channels, an air-conditioner which is working perfectly, a refrigerator, and a well-stocked mini bar.
Across the bed is the restroom with basic toiletries and sets of towels.
Dental kits are also available upon request which we didn't bother to request for since we brought our own.
The restroom also has a private bath with hot and cold shower.
Although the restroom is clean, it is not that spacious. I had a hard time moving around while washing my face or brushing my teeth because the lavatory was very compact. A hair dryer is also available but the one in our room is not working. :(
Free WIFI access is also available hotel-wide and signal is the strongest in rooms. A ration of daily newspapers is also available for free. :)
Our room also comes with breakfast buffet for two per overnight stay. And since we booked the room for 3 days and 2 nights, we got to have breakfast buffet for two days! :D
A few things to take note:
* Room service is done everyday and bed linens, toiletries, and towels are being replaced. We weren't aware of this as we didn't read the notice hanging in the towel rack in the bathroom and were surprised to see our bed made and toiletries and towels changed when we went back to the hotel after lunch the next day. We checked our valuables and they were all still intact though. The room doesn't come with a security vault so be sure to always keep your valuables secured.
* Laundry and dry cleaning services are also available at the hotel. You just have to put your dirty clothes in the laundry bag at the closet and they will be picked up by the staff during room service. I'm just not sure if the laundry and dry cleaning services come with an extra charge.
* A deposit payment will be included in the bill once you check in which will be refundable upon check out. Our room costs Php 3024.00 per night and we were charged a total of Php 6500.00 for two nights (including the deposit payment). You may also use the deposited amount to pay for the slippers and the items in the minibar. :)
* Let me just say that the hotel staff are all very friendly. They were all accommodating in answering our queries and they never failed to greet us with smiling faces every time we cross paths. :D
Overall, even if there were a few misses, Mark and I enjoyed our stay at Lotus Garden Hotel. I'll be sharing with you our dining experience plus the hotel's facilities in my next posts. :)
