Here's one of the series of my late night dinner dates with Mark. Our late night dinner dates usually happen whenever I work overtime. My dad would never really allow me to go home late all by myself even if I bring a car and so working overtime is really not an option for me. So whenever overtime work is needed, Mark would always be there, since his shift ends at 10pm, (or should I say I would always ask Mark) to fetch me up, have some late dinner, and accompany me home. :p
From Makati we went to the Araneta Center and was eying on Mang Inasal but it was already their closing time. Luckily North Park, which is just a few walks away from Mang Inasal, is open for 24 hours.
We were greeted by the waiting staff who also ushered us to our seats. It was almost midnight and there weren't a lot of diners that time so our orders were promptly served.
Our drinks were served first. Mark got their Pineapple shake and I got their Lychee shake and totally forgot that I have a sore throat. :p I wasn't able to keep the receipt and so prices indicated here were taken from North Park's site. :)
Mark was still on a diet that time and wanted to have North Park's China Chicken, which was unfortunately out of stock, so he just settled for dimsums. There weren't any beef siomai in North Park and Mark didn't want their shrimp dumplings so he opted for the Shark's Fin siomai. Since he is allowed to eat fish, he got 2 orders. :p
I have eaten shark's fin siomai made of real shark's fin and so I was surprised when I knew that North Park's Shark's Fin siomai is not made of the real thing. :p Apparently, according to their site, North Park's shark's fin siomai is just called so because it is shaped like a shark's fin. It actually contains pork, black fungus, and carrots in it. :p Mark enjoyed them anyway and was able to finish all 8 of them in no time. :p
I don't really get to have decent meals whenever I'm busy with work and so I was already hungry when we got to North Park. I already knew what I wanted the moment we were seated. I got one order of their Pork Siomai. Most people eat siomai as appetizer but I love eating it with rice. :) Although Mongkok's siomai is still my favorite, North Park's pork siomai was also good. I love how I can actually taste the pork and the shrimp unlike other siomais which are mostly made of flour. :)
I can still remember how I fell in love with their Boneless Honey Lemon Chicken and so I decided that I'll be having that one too. Unfortunately, this too was not available that time. Since I was already hungry and was too lazy to look at the menu, I just settled for their Salted Garlic Squid which I also got to try when we dined at North Park in Greenbelt 5.
Their squid actually looked a lot more appetizing than that of Greenbelt's. The squid was okay but not something to die for. It was dashed with sea-salt and black peppercorns then breaded and deep fried. Good thing the squid was also tender and not too oily. :) I was already full when I got to finish the siomai and half of the rice plus two squid slices and so I had the rest of the squids wrapped.
Although most of our orders weren't available, Mark and I still enjoyed our late night dinner. Their customer service was good since their staff was very attentive and our orders were served promptly. I just hope they do have everything on the menu and still live up to their good customer service especially on peak hours. :)
